本文集是我二十多年来感性文字的集合体，它像一个年代久远的箱笼，收藏了我的大部分话语细软。其中包含散文、随笔、书评、文化分析以及实验小说等各种文体。在编完这个集子时，我突然意识到，生命的一部分，已经转成另一种样式保存下来。它只不是我自身的历史镜像，更是灵魂变形和物化的结果。这些活的文字，张扬高蹈，业已成为独立于我之外的独立生命。在重读它们的过程中，一种他者化的陌生感击中了我的手指，仿佛是在读另一个灵魂的独语。
本文集以诗歌作为序言，是因为虽然我很少写诗，但这种领袖文体却内在地指导着我的书写，逼迫它走向隐喻和诗意的在所。在面临口水化危机的时刻，坚守汉语的最后防线，成为一种令人窒息的愿望。而不幸的是，这些问题成堆的文字，也许只能成为一堆发黄的故纸，在图书馆的昏暗光线里朽坏下去。个人话语的螳臂，又何以能阻止汉语衰变的历史巨轮？本书以“盲肠”自谓，就是企图表达这种悲观性的立场。
尽管如此，我还是要感谢花城出版社编辑林宋瑜女士。正是她的不懈努力，这本小书才得以在“净化”之后问世。我也要感谢曾经刊载过这些文章的报刊编辑，他们的鼓励和敦促，是我维系写作的另一个重要动力。在书稿编订期间，我的母亲、这个跟我共同生活50年的女人，在90高龄上弃我而去，令我感到了断腕般的疼痛。正是她的几近严苛的教育方式，成就了我的书写事业。本书稿，就是献给她的一份卑微的祭品。
本书的封面设计和内文装帧，均出自我学生张嫣的手笔。其中插入的图片，大部分由我自己拍摄，个别取自互联网，因很难寻找原作者，只能在此表示诚挚的谢意，并希望作者有机会看到本书时尽快跟出版社联系。无论如何，本书中出现的这些影像记忆，为本书增添了岁月的魅力。
