The Chiefs bring back most of the core pieces of their back-to-back Super Bowl teams, notably quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce on offense, as well as mountainous defensive lineman Chris Jones. Kansas City also added talented wideout Xavier Worthy in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft and focused each of its first three picks on the offensive side of the ball. The Chiefs went 11-6 last season and defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 53.

The Bears look to finish an unbeaten preseason that’s drumming up excitement for the season and for Williams, the former USC quarterback selected No. 1 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. Multiple early comparisons have already been made between Williams and Mahomes with their athleticism, creativity and multi-threat skills, which only further fuels optimism for a potential big Bears rebound. Chicago went 7-10 last season, starting the year with four straight losses and sitting at 2-7 record through nine weeks.
The Chiefs and Bears are set for an 8:20 p.m. ET start on NFL Network. Live streams are available from FuboTV (free trial), DirecTV Stream (free trial) and SlingTV (low intro rate).

Plenty of Chiefs players will look to make a good final impression ahead of the NFL regular season. Two particular position groups of interest are the running backs and receivers. The backs could go three or four deep, with Carson Steele, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Deneric Prince competing behind Isiah Pacheco, who will be KC’s starter. Rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit will also hope to leave a lasting impression. Then, there are five receivers — Mecole Hardman, Skyy Moore, Kadarius Toney, Justyn Ross and Nikko Remigio — who could fill the final two or three spots at that position. The receiver locks are Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown and Justin Watson. Don’t expect to see the starters Andy Reid has indicated as much, and his history would show the same.
Patrick Mahomes & co. only played one series in the opener, and about a quarter in the second game. The starters will sit this one out, and as The Star’s Jesse Newell pointed out on this week’s SportsBeat KC podcast, if you aren’t playing (and aren’t injured) that means you’re on the team. More fun with new kickoff rules? There’s certainly been no shortage of highlights — and lowlights — with the Chiefs regarding the NFL’s new kickoff rules and other aspects of special teams. There have been big returns — both for and against — the Game 1 safety snafu and a replacement long snapper. So what will Thursday night bring? Only the latest look at how the Chiefs are adapting to the NFL’s biggest offseason change. You may have missed... While the Chiefs wait to learn about what a potential NFL suspension looks like for Rashee Rice, teammates have raved about his on-field development moving into the next season. Which Chiefs running backs will make the roster? Isiah Pacheco’s role is set ... and there’s a lot of uncertainty afterward. The Chiefs’ new left tackle, Kingsley Suamataia, might not play in the preseason finale, because he’s locked up a roster spot. It’s a good sign that the rookie is ahead of schedule at a key position.
The Kansas City Chiefs are set to face the Chicago Bears in their third and final exhibition game of the 2024 NFL preseason at 7:20 p.m. CST on Thursday, August 22.
This matchup will be the last opportunity for many second and third-string players on the bubble to prove themselves and earn a spot on the 53-man roster.
